Catriona Henderson Darroch: I am an artist member of Paisley Art Institute, Cowal Open Studios and a member of Artists in Motion, a pan European organisation, based in France. I work in pure watercolour, mostly wet on wet with dry brush to finish. I have been observing, drawing and painting since I was a child living on the Isle of Arran and have a lifelong love and passion for Watercolour painting, an ethereal, mysterious medium to fascinate the artist and viewer alike. They can be unpredictable too which I love. The West Coast of Scotland is my main inspiration with it’s many moods and atmospherics. I do love islands, they all hold a mystery that captures the heart and feature in many of my paintings. During Covid, garden visitors gave me time to study a lonely Raven, Jackdaws and other members of the crow family and some sparrows and robins. Then to the beach for the herons and curlew, they have all found their way into my work and still challenge me. Iain Darroch: Iain has had a life long interest in painting and drawing. He trained as a Ship Building Draftsman and he challenges himself to loosen his style of creative working. He paints mainly in acrylic and sometimes in pastel, creating very Scottish, moody, atmospheric work . He is also a piper of Highland Pipes and Small Pipes and whistle. Often his music influences his paintings.
